Philips Sonicare Advance (A-Series) Replacement Brush Head, Standard (2-Pack) Review

I am shocked at the price of this at Amazon...Over . The same exact replacement sells for at Sears.
Just google "sonicare replacement toothbrush" and you will see a picture of the replacement for Advance. Its the first one on the left. I just read that the E replacement will fit on the Advance toothbrush. With that said, I may try the E which is sold at Walmart and if it does not fit, I can return it. I do like the Advance brush but it gets all yukie around the greenish part of the toothbruse at the base. I can't seem to get that old toothpaste out of there no matter how much I soak it. Good luck people

So I go online to order new A-Series brushes from Amazon like I always to and I see Amazon doesn't carry them, but an Amazon seller does ... for . Are they serious? I like sonicare toothbrushes, it makes my teeth feel slicker and cleaner than using a manual toothbrush. this smaller brushhead is ideal for reaching the backs of your mouths without feeling uncomfortable, I also find that i tend to take my time with this brush and make sure to clean each individual tooth, whereas with the normal brush i was more focused on the quadrants on the mouth.

Perhaps the highest compliment I can give this product is that it has made me enjoy brushing my teeth. After years of reluctance and thinking it insane to spend this kind of bread when a toothbrush can be had for a couple of bucks, I sprang for it on the recommendation of my dentist. (and incentive via a large coupon from him, provided by the manufacturer to be given to his patients)

I considered myself to be competent at brushing my own teeth, and this product proved me wrong. Previously, my teeth only felt polished-smooth once every six months- after, that is, my dentist visit and professional cleaning. With this, my teeth feel that clean and polished after every single brushing. It is simply amazing.

High Points:

1. This particular kit comes with two bases (the battery part), and two extra brush heads (for four, total), a charging station, and two travel cases that neatly and cleanly store your brush head and base for traveling.

2. Excellent battery life - my battery unit lasts over one week between charges; I don't store my handle on the charger nightly. This is great for travel, as for anything but extended trips I only bring along a fully-charged base and brush head in its handy travel case and leave the charger behind.

3. Soft start feature - this is awesome for newbies such as myself. For the first dozen (If I remember correctly) uses, it operates with slightly reduced power, thereby easing your gums into the experience. As it was, it tickled like crazy; this feature 'conditions' your gums, if you will, and makes it much easier to transition from using a toothbrush.

4. The quadpacer feature is effective. Like any easily trained beast- excepting my cat- I responded very well to the subtle prompts that the toothbrush gives to move to a different quadrant. A split-second pause in the brushing action prompts you to move along. For me, it was always difficult to cover all my teeth equally well, so I love this feature. It is non-intrusive but effective at keeping you focused on how you ought to be brushing. Want to brush longer? No worries- just press the power button and keep on brushing.

5. Charger design - This really appealed to me, as I have a very curious toddler. The charging stand has no prongs, fittings, or other electrical connections in its base. It just presents a nice, boring surface that my toddler shows no interest in. The charging station charges the handle indirectly. This also makes for a cleanable surface.

6. The brush heads are nice and compact and the bristles are soft. Despite this, they are extremely effective at cleaning.

In the end, I had to ask myself what is the value of not having gum disease, cavities, or lost teeth due to inadequate cleaning? My own answer was that it was far, far more than what this unit cost.

Others probably do a much better job at using a toothbrush than I apparently did, but for me this Sonicare is amazing and has resulted nothing short of better oral health. My teeth are cleaner and whiter, my gums are healthier,and I now actually look forward to brushing where before I did not. This skeptic has been convinced. Highly recommended!

Powerful cleaner. Works great. Sharing the charger seems to be working fine. Really seems to clean teath. Feels like I just left the dentist my teeth are so clean. I would recommend. I can see down the road that the battery will be an issue. Can't change it yourself and must buy another unit at some point down the road.

I guess you have to weigh the pros and cons. For me, my Sonicare electric toothbrush does a much better job on my teeth than any manual toothbrush I've ever used. I've had my Sonicare electric toothbrush for almost 2 years now, and use it everyday. No more manual toothbrushes for me!

My teeth look healthier, whiter. I even was able to finally get rid of a brown spot I had on one of my teeth.

These brush heads are pricey, and I do change them every 3 months as recommended. I like the idea of a 5 pack versus the 3 pack that has been available, so that I will have enough for at least one year everytime I buy them.

I only saw the 5 pack at Costco, for almost , so I bought a 5 pack there, as I was on my last brush head. It's nice to see that Amazon will also now be carrying them, as Amazon was where I was buying my 3 pack ones. The free shipping will be nice too, as Costco I have to pay CA tax which is also high.

For me, I think it's worth the price to pay for these brush heads. Alittle pricey, but worth it!

I have owned this Sonicare toothbrush for about two months now and I love it! I hesitated on buying it because of some of the negative reviews. I have not had any trouble with the battery compartment, but because of the reviews Iread, I try to remember to pop off the bottom of the compartment after using the toothbrush and lay it on its side next to the toothpaste. Maybe this is asking too much for some people, but I like this thing enough that the 3 seconds it takes to pop it off and put it back on are no big deal. As soon as I started using the e3000, I could really feel how clean my teeth were. A lot of electric toothbrushes offer superior cleaning to a manual toothbrush, though. What really hooked me was that about 2 weeks ago, I was putting on lipstick and when I smiled at myself in the mirror afterwards, I was greeted with really white teeth. I am an ex-smoker and love coffee, and even with regular dental cleanings, not all of the staining comes off. But this toothbrush has! I love it, and even if two months from now it stops working, I'm likely to buy a new one. I might consider one of the more expensive ones, but I like having the battery operated for travelling and that it takes up less space on the bathroom countertop.

It is very difficult to find any of the original heads for the Advance series. (I personally don't find the new ones that fit the e & now also fit the a series to be as effective as the originals on the Advance handle) I have always liked the compact size but usually couldn't find it. The compact size is especially good for someone with a smaller mouth or tight spots. (or children) Compact is very compact though; so know what you're buying. Check to see if the regular size is available if you don't want compact. Thank you amazon for having these available, and on auto ship!

I agree with the other 5 star reviewers. This is Philips' best brush head to date. I have been using a Sonicare since Philips released their first model. My most recent model is the Flexcare. Philips sent me a HydroClean brush head to try out. I had been using the ProResults brush head and I had found it to be a big improvement over prior models, primarily because of its smaller size. I did not expect much improvement with the HydroClean brush head and was very pleasantly surprised to find it to be significantly superior to the ProResults brush head. My mouth and gums felt exceptionally clean. As to the issue that it is not a substitute for flossing, if you think that the purpose of flossing is to merely remove food particles from between your teeth, you need to discuss flossing with your dental hygienist.

Don't Like Them at All - Lady At The Lake -
After getting our new Healthy White SoniCare, we needed another brush head. The only ones I found while out shopping which fit the Healthy White, were the HydroClean brush heads. I don't care for these at all, since there is a thin row of bristles on the outsides. They are also scratchy on the gums. I much prefer the ProResults brush heads and would order online if need be (just to avoid the HydroClean type).

Previously, we had the Essence, but ended up disliking it for a few reasons. The Essence brush heads had to be screwed on and off and underneath would collect moisture and sometimes noticed a black residue inside. Then we had to soak them in bleach-water to maintain hygiene. It became a nuisance. The other reason I didn't like the Essence, was because the handle is smooth plastic and very slippery when wet. This made it difficult to hold onto and then difficult to dry and then unscrew the brush head. The handle was also very large diameter.

Our new Healthy White solved all of those issues. It has a slimmer handle with rubber grips (no slippage). The brush heads pop on and off, so no difficulty with unscrewing or dealing with the hygiene problem. So far, so good!

Also, I recommend the ProResults brush heads (didn't care for the HydroClean due to the fact there are fewer bristles). This is an investment in dental and gum health and very much worth the money.

One additional remark, we previously also had an Oral B electric (oscillating round head), and that worked well for many years. After menopause, I noticed my gums were a bit more tender due to the abrasiveness, and decided to try the SoniCare. The SoniCare does not irritate my gums at all.

WOW! I saw this toothbrush at my dentist's office at my last visit and asked about it. They had nothing but good things to say about this product. I didn't buy one then because I wanted to think it over. We had an Oral B by Braun that I thought worked just fine on my teeth. After a few weeks of checking this out online, I decided to get one. The first couple times of using it was so different than any toothbrush I had used. It vibrates! It was a weird feeling! But, I endured and after a few days I came to look forward to brushing my teeth because they just felt so much cleaner than before. It may sound strange, but it's true. I have used it now for over a month and I love this toothbrush! I can see why my dentist recommends it! My teeth are so much cleaner feeling than before and when they say it'll whiten your teeth - it does! I can't say enough good things about this product. Simply put - I LOVE IT! Highly recommended!

I previously had the Sonicare toothbrush that used the toothpaste packets that injected the paste through the bristles. As many other reviewers have already written, the biggest problem with earlier versions of Sonicare's products was the well within the brush head that collected debris and was very difficult to reach to keep it clean.

The HealthyWhite Power Toothbrush has none of those problems and has been a godsend. I love this toothbrush! It is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to store.

The best part is that it holds a charge for a very, very long time. After fully charging the brush it has lasted for up to and longer than 3 weeks without losing power at all. I highly recommend this offering from Sonicare and plan to purchase it again when the need arises.
